Doula Melba Nears
A California native, born and raised in Vallejo during the years of “women’s liberation” – Melba fully believes in empowering women to understand, and choose the birthing team and style of birth which best “fits” them. With this in mind Melba was inspired to become certified as a Birth and Postpartum Doula through (CPI) Childbirth Professionals International, and join her daughter in her business of “MA’s Helping Hands”.
Melba has spent the majority of her life learning about and caring for children. She is currently the Executive Director of two privately owned childcare centers, one which began in her home over 35 years ago, and the other at a church where she pastors alongside her husband of 45+ years. Melba is the natural parent of two adult children (her 1st being Doula Arica) and she has become a loving spiritual mom to many others.
Although a very busy woman, Melba is also a Breast-feeding Peer Counselor; and a Red Cross Certified Adult & Pediatric CPR and First Aid instructor. Additionally Melba holds Bachelor degrees in Early Childhood Education and Human Development with emphasis in Youth Services.
This training has given Melba a passion for women, relationships, families, parenting and the miracle of childbirth.
